Take Me Out To The Ball Game!

We have officially started Tball Season!!! This is the first year that Remington has been old enough to play an organized sport, and I am soo glad, excited and proud that his first sport is baseball! I know that I am completely biased because I am his momma, but Rem has a pretty natural talent for baseball. He is taking it very seriously too. After his first practice, last Tuesday evening, Remington came home stretching and flexing, saying " Mom, I need to exercise for tball and practice my batting on the wii." Either a really clever way to get us to let him play the Wii, or I have an authentic sports fanatic on my hands.....probably both. He has also taken to the lingo quite naturally as well. Today when his coach called his team over to get ready for their team photo Remington started yelling out in a very serious and mature voice "Bring it in team, bring it in!" I wonder who he gets his athletic passion from? Anyone care to make a guess? Yeah, probably Uncle Bubbie! Remington is number 7, by the way.

I got to practice my team mom skills today by taking Remington and his buddy Lance to all of our activities today. They were awesome! So stinking cute to listen to the two of them talk and plan out their fun day together. To start the morning off, Lance gets into our pick-up, which of course is blasting Michael Jackson. ( Rem is obsessed if you didn't already know ) Lance asks, "What is this music?" To which Remington replies " MICHAEL JACKSON " and Lancer ( his nickname ) comes back with " I can not believe it! " Funny boys!

We had a beautiful day for the first game of the season. I got tremendously sun burned on my chest, so much so that I even had to break out the aloe vera. Ouch. My poor porcelain skin isn't used to soo much sun in one day. Haha. Luke even got to take a little time out of his work day to come to the game and he even participated as second base coach for our team. The game was so adorable and hilarious. Between every kid wanting to run after the ball, including the opposite team member. The little boy who hit the ball, fielded his own ball, and threw himself out ( even though at this age you don't get thrown out ). And the little girl who just about peed herself because there was a spider on the base and her coach had to run out and kill it before we could precede. I can not wait for the next game!

I am pretty sure that I am going to love having two boys in sports, but I am sure I will love whatever activities they are involved in and will be their BIGGEST fan! Who knows what adventure we will have next?

Stink and Sick, Sicker, Sickest

I remember when I was little my mom would read me a chapter a night of "Charlotte's Web". I have started to do the same with Remington. We have read 3 chapter books so far. I have picked two different series for kids, we have read two from "Hank the Cow Dog" and one from "Stink". I love the "Hank the Cow Dog" series but the chapters are quite long for a 4 year old to sit through, so that is why I started the new "Stink" series. The chapters are shorter and a little more easy for Remington to sit through and comprehend. Remington loves to read his books at night and I love reading to him too. Do you have any books you love to read to your kiddos? I would love some suggestions and I highly recommend the books I have mentioned here.

On another note, Poor Remington has been sick lately. Rem seems to get sick at least once a month. I don't think that it's too abnormal for a kid these days to get sick often but I wish I could keep him healthier. There is nothing worse than having your child sick. You just want to scoop 'em up and take away everything that makes them feel badly, and laying awake at night listening to him cough just breaks my heart! Luckily I have some of the most amazing and accommodating bosses that never make me feel guilty about having to take time off to take care of my son, and they always have an understanding and empathy. That means a lot to a mother!!

Annnd We're Back!

Ok so I have been on a major hiatus from Blogging... those of you who know me personally know why....We lost a member of Austinburg last summer...Gee Gee passed away far too soon! But I don't want to focus on the bad, we will miss Gee Gee more than we could ever say, but I know she wouldn't want us all to sit around and weep for her forever. So in honor of Gee Gee lets focus on some good stuff that has happened to our family in last few months.

Luke and I went to Mexico at the end of September...we had such an amazing time with our friends ( My bosses and coworkers went down there with us, it was a crew trip ). We got some good time to relax too, which was much needed. Shortly after we came home from that trip, we found out that we were PREGNANT!! Thank you Mexico beaches, sun, air and fun! Baby Benson #2 is due June 20th 2012. We are soo excited to welcome another lil Boy to our family! His name is gonna be Welker Kenneth Benson! Remington is wayyy excited to be a big brother, and I know he is going to be an awesome older sibling! Remington, thanks to the help of Uncle Bubbie, took up snowboarding this winter. He did soo awesome and I know next year he is going to rock the chair lift and the big hill!! We also got to go to MONSTER JAM and an Idaho Stealheads hockey game! Remington had soo much fun and we all enjoyed watching him get excited over all the trucks and hockey fights!

I plan on being better about updating this bad boy and putting up lots of pictures of our world with the new baby! Keep in Touch :)

Remington turns 4 and Bubba Graduates!

Talk about a BUSY weekend! Remington's 4th birthday just so happens to land on Graduation Weekend, and that would normally not be a problem but this graduation weekend happens to be a special one for Bensonville! Uncle Bubba Graduated!!!!!!!! We started the weekend off with a visitor to Bensonville, Aunt Sam. Samantha is Luke's sister and this was the first time she has been to Baker for one of Remington's birthdays and we were super excited to have her! We treated her to an awesome dinner @ Barley Browns, which if you have been to Baker City you have probably enjoyed their amazing food and/or brews! Saturday was Remington's BIG day! It was a Monster Jam Birthday! Complete with a Grave Digger pinata filled with candy. Rem had sooo many friends that showed up to help celebrate our awesome kid. It was a beautiful day and we took full advantage of it having the party out at Paw and Gee Gee's house ( Austinburg ) Remington was a hoot to watch open gifts this year, really getting into ripping the presents open and making comments about the goodies inside like: "Awwwww JACKPOT! " hahaha. This year Luke and I got him his first Big Boy Bike! Can't wait to go on bike rides this summer.

On Sunday, we woke up early to send off the friends and family that stayed with us. I was involved with the Senior Grad Night party so I had to go set up before graduation. Graduation was a packed house and how could it not be! I know that I am utterly and completely impartial to this class because my brother was in it, but really, this was the coolest class to watch graduate. These kids have soo much going for them in their futures. I didn't cry but I was so so very proud of my Bubbie!

I'm Baaaccckkkk!....and it's my birthday!

So, as you have probably noticed I have taken a loooooonng hiatus from Bensonville. Mostly due to the fact that we have not had Internet for quite some time. Obviously we have Internet now, and I thought I should update the blog. So I'm Back!

Today is my birthday! I am 27 years old and, so far, it has already been one great day! For some reason I woke up really early for me...Like 6:30 am, which if you know me is like 2 hours before I want to get up! Had a lot on my mind and just couldn't go back to sleep after Luke left for work. So I snuck out of bed, Remington had crawled in this morning after Luke got up, made coffee and did a little photography research that I needed to get done. If you didn't know, I am madly in love with photography! I am still quite amature, but I have done a few jobs and have really enjoyed them. I am currently trying to work on my editing and printing skills. Since I haven't taken any classes on either I have been learning by trial and error. I am hoping to take some classes in the near future! Here are some of my Fave pictures I have taken in the last year!

Remington is a little less than Two weeks from turning 4 years old! I can't believe how big that little bugger is getting! Right now he is into Superheros, mainly Spiderman, Thor, and Ninja Turtles. He is also into Monster Trucks, which is the theme for his birthday party this year! The thing that I think he is the most into right now though is.......... MICHAEL JACKSON!! The kid loves his music! Gee Gee bought him a portable CD player and "The Essential Michael Jackson" CD and we have gone through 3 sets of batteries for it in about a month! He knows most of the songs and tries to sing along to all of them! It's adorable... Video to come soon! He is some pictures of the BOY!!

Well, I hope to be more on top of Bensonville now that we have some Internet! I will let you know how Rem's birthday goes and have some more pictures soon! PEACE!!!

First day of school/Vaccines

Remington started preschool last week! I can't believe how fast he is growing up! He had a great first day and the teacher even told me that he is one of the more calmer three year olds in the class. I truly believe that Rem is a well behaved child not only because we do discipline and teach him respect but because every time he has gone to someone for either daycare or just to be watched I have been told that he is a super easy kid to have! Luke and I are very proud of our little man and his manners. I have always told myself and others that I didn't want to be those parents who show up at their friends houses and they say "Oh No they brought their kids!" We all know "those" parents. haha.

With starting preschool I have a topic of interest I would like to discuss. Vaccination. When I was pregnant with Remington, Luke and I had a great discussion about vaccination and whether or not we were going to have Rem Vaccinated. One of the reasons this was such a heavy topic was the fact that we know several families with children who have autism spectrum disorder or some form of autism. There was a lot of talk about vaccines having a link to autism and we wanted to get all the information, as well as all the opinions both pro and con on the subject. After talking to a friend, who is a nurse, who had also struggled with decision we decided to go ahead and vaccinate Remington. My friend had told me that the odds that Rem would have a side effect to the vaccines resulting in autism were far less than the odds of him contracting one of the deadly diseases that we would be vaccinating him for. I do not hold a judgement for anyone who chooses to not vaccinate their child for any reasons what soever. But I came across this article today and thought it interesting and educational and thought I would share. I would like to know, how everyone else feels about vaccination? Does this research really put to rest the stigma that has developed in the recent years? If your child has been diagnosed with autism, where do you stand on the matter?

P.S. I am really curious about this and I am in no way trying to be disrespectful towards those with children with autism, I just want to get another opinion on this research!

Baby don't you cry

every night before Remington goes to bed I sing him a lullaby. I have been doing this since he was an itty bitty guy and with the same song. Naturally he now knows all the words to this song. Here we are singing our lullaby before night night!
