I'm Baaaccckkkk!....and it's my birthday!

So, as you have probably noticed I have taken a loooooonng hiatus from Bensonville. Mostly due to the fact that we have not had Internet for quite some time. Obviously we have Internet now, and I thought I should update the blog. So I'm Back!

Today is my birthday! I am 27 years old and, so far, it has already been one great day! For some reason I woke up really early for me...Like 6:30 am, which if you know me is like 2 hours before I want to get up! Had a lot on my mind and just couldn't go back to sleep after Luke left for work. So I snuck out of bed, Remington had crawled in this morning after Luke got up, made coffee and did a little photography research that I needed to get done. If you didn't know, I am madly in love with photography! I am still quite amature, but I have done a few jobs and have really enjoyed them. I am currently trying to work on my editing and printing skills. Since I haven't taken any classes on either I have been learning by trial and error. I am hoping to take some classes in the near future! Here are some of my Fave pictures I have taken in the last year!

Remington is a little less than Two weeks from turning 4 years old! I can't believe how big that little bugger is getting! Right now he is into Superheros, mainly Spiderman, Thor, and Ninja Turtles. He is also into Monster Trucks, which is the theme for his birthday party this year! The thing that I think he is the most into right now though is.......... MICHAEL JACKSON!! The kid loves his music! Gee Gee bought him a portable CD player and "The Essential Michael Jackson" CD and we have gone through 3 sets of batteries for it in about a month! He knows most of the songs and tries to sing along to all of them! It's adorable... Video to come soon! He is some pictures of the BOY!!

Well, I hope to be more on top of Bensonville now that we have some Internet! I will let you know how Rem's birthday goes and have some more pictures soon! PEACE!!!

First day of school/Vaccines

Remington started preschool last week! I can't believe how fast he is growing up! He had a great first day and the teacher even told me that he is one of the more calmer three year olds in the class. I truly believe that Rem is a well behaved child not only because we do discipline and teach him respect but because every time he has gone to someone for either daycare or just to be watched I have been told that he is a super easy kid to have! Luke and I are very proud of our little man and his manners. I have always told myself and others that I didn't want to be those parents who show up at their friends houses and they say "Oh No they brought their kids!" We all know "those" parents. haha.

With starting preschool I have a topic of interest I would like to discuss. Vaccination. When I was pregnant with Remington, Luke and I had a great discussion about vaccination and whether or not we were going to have Rem Vaccinated. One of the reasons this was such a heavy topic was the fact that we know several families with children who have autism spectrum disorder or some form of autism. There was a lot of talk about vaccines having a link to autism and we wanted to get all the information, as well as all the opinions both pro and con on the subject. After talking to a friend, who is a nurse, who had also struggled with decision we decided to go ahead and vaccinate Remington. My friend had told me that the odds that Rem would have a side effect to the vaccines resulting in autism were far less than the odds of him contracting one of the deadly diseases that we would be vaccinating him for. I do not hold a judgement for anyone who chooses to not vaccinate their child for any reasons what soever. But I came across this article today and thought it interesting and educational and thought I would share. I would like to know, how everyone else feels about vaccination? Does this research really put to rest the stigma that has developed in the recent years? If your child has been diagnosed with autism, where do you stand on the matter?

P.S. I am really curious about this and I am in no way trying to be disrespectful towards those with children with autism, I just want to get another opinion on this research!

Baby don't you cry

every night before Remington goes to bed I sing him a lullaby. I have been doing this since he was an itty bitty guy and with the same song. Naturally he now knows all the words to this song. Here we are singing our lullaby before night night!

It's A' Mario Time

Tonight we just hung out at home and chilled out. Remington's uncle Bubbie bought Rem a fake mustache and i finally got Rem to wear it. I think he looks rather handsome in a Italian Stallion sort of way. I decided to try it on too. I do believe it's a sexy new accessory lol!

Birthday Party and Camping.

The last couple of weekends have been busy ones! The weekend of Aug 7th we went to Remington's cousins birthday party! It was a lot of fun. The party was in Pendelton at a really great park that has a small wading pool and on the other end a great play area. Before we went to the party we stopped off at Walmart and got Rem a booster seat..He was really excited to get into a big boy chair. It's kind of amazing all the different car seats you have to have now a days. After the party we came back to Baker and went to the Demolition Derby! Remington Was. In. Heaven! He loved the cars crashing into one another and the loud roaring engines. He kept saying "Get Thems Wheels!" He thought it was hilarious when the tires popped. It was a great day. Sunday we drove to Boise, which is 2 hours away, to check out a Jeep that I found on Craigslist. We have been a one vehicle family for almost 2 years. Luke has been walking to and from work in the rain, snow or whatever other kind of weather we had. We really needed to get a second vehicle. Well we went to Boise and test drove the Jeep and Luke was in LOVE! I had already planned on being in Boise on Tuesday for a shopping trip, so when I went over there I picked it up! Luke was sooo excited, he kept calling me to see if I was on my way home yet.

This last weekend we went camping with the Family. Remington got to go early with Paw and Gee Gee. He went up on Thursday night. Luke and I went up on Friday after we got off work. We took the new Jeep of course! Loaded it up and drove over Marble Creek Pass. I had a ton of fun. We got to camp and hung out. The Next day we all went for a 4 wheel/Jeep ride. It was a great time. Then just hanging around the camp fire that night we told stories, and Laughed a LOT!

Great couple of weekends. The summer is starting to come to a close. I hope to have another couple of Great weekends before the summer is over.

...And Counting

We are currently "trying" to add to the population of "Our Town." In this post I am going to be pretty darn honest about this subject because I really need to vent a little bit. With Remington, Luke and I didn't really "try". I got off birth control in May because I wanted a break, and I was on the patch and had started to hear some things about the patch having a higher rate for blood clots. Blood clots run in my family so I thought maybe I would eventually try a different type of birth control when I decided to get back on. Well, obviously, I didn't get back on because I got pregnant with Remington in Sept. Luke and I weren't "trying" but we weren't "Not Trying" either. We were like if it happens, it happens. We are soooo thankful it happened! Anyway, "trying" is completely different from, just letting it happen. I am soooo sick of trying! The sad thing is we haven't been trying that long! The emotional roller coaster I have been putting myself through is ridiculous. Every month since I got off birth control I have been amping myself for being pregnant, but at the same time discouraging myself from getting my hopes up. How does that work? It doesn't! So, every month since I got off birth control and haven't been pregnant, I am completely ruined and disappointed. Not to mention depressed and frustrated. I hear every one telling me " Don't try so hard" or " Just don't worry about it, it will happen when it happens." Well, answer me this anyone who has ever tried for a baby, How do stop trying when you know you are trying? I mean, I have been slacking on tracking when I am ovulating, and not planning our baby making rendezvous', but how do you put the idea out of mind and not, secretly under all the smoke and mirrors, know that you are trying and might be pregnant?

Each month, as soon as I know that I have probably ovulated and it could possible be the month that I conceive a beautiful baby, I immediately can't fall to sleep at night and am constantly wondering "IF". I lay in bed for at least 45mins praying over and over "Lord, you know the desires of my heart, please help me conceive a baby to add to our family." I tell myself to stop worrying about it, but I still do.

So, here I am. Still "trying" but trying not to "try". I know it will all work out. God has his own perfect timing for everything. There is a beautiful miracle waiting to bless this family and I can't wait to meet it! It's definitely time to add to Bensonville, don't you agree!

Backyard Camp Out!

Last night, as we were getting ready for dinner, Luke says to Rem "Hey bud how would you like to have a camp out in the backyard?" then, "Is that okay with you mommy?" Ha ha, of course it was alright with me, but I liked how that question was an afterthought to his impulsive blurt! So we ate our Delicious bbq'd elk steaks and, after picking up a lil dog doo, we started setting up our tent. It was pretty close to dark already, which made it a little more difficult to put the tent up than normal. We got out our sleeping bags and some ground pads and made up our beds. Remington brought out 5 or 6 books and we read them by flashlight and went to bed. It took about an hour for Rem to settle down enough to actually go to sleep, he kept saying "Mom, ummmmmmmmmmm, I miss you......(awkward smile)" I finally had to tell him to go to sleep, or we were going to go inside and sleep. If you know me, my idea of tent camping involves an air mattress. It seemed silly to set up our mattress for one night out in our own darned backyard, so I thought "Hey I am tough! I can handle one night sleeping on the ground." WRONG! I only lasted till about 1:00a.m. I told Luke that I couldn't handle it any longer, my back and hips were killing me, and took the dogs inside to sleep in my comfy bed. I felt a little bad bailing on The Remster on his first backyard camp out experience. Once my body hit the pillow top, didn't feel so guilty anymore! Remington and Luke made it to around 6:00a.m. and apparently Rem was awake and ready to play! Luke gets up for work everyday around 5:30ish and wasn't about to get up early on his day off. So, in comes Remington and Daddy to bed and we all slept till 8:30 this morn! It was a fun spur of the moment family activity, but I think next time we are going to go camping out in the woods ( and with an air mattress too! )
